Kim Clijsters Retires

For some reason I had forgotten to mention Kim Clijsters retirement right after the US Open. She was definitely a huge force in women's tennis and to some extent performing even better after her first retirement. To be honest I didn't like Clijsters initially most likely because of her rivalry with Henin as I was a huge fan of her. It wasn't until her second career when I truly learnt to appreciate Clijster's tennis, in a much needed revival of the recent greats, as the women's tour was lacking any depth.

An edited list of Clijster's achievements;
World No.1 (four separate occasions, totaling 20 weeks)
2005,09,10 US Open Champion and 2011 Australian Open Champion (her US titles being consecutive wins)
Finals of 4 other Grand Slams (01,03 French Open, 03 US Open, 04 Australian Open)
$24+ million in career prize money
41 titles
523-127 w/l record
Won 3 WTA Tour Championships (02,03,10)
Made 10 Premier/Tier I tournament finals winning 7
Won 2 Doubles Grand Slam titles (03 French and 03 Wimbledon) and 1 final (01 Wimbledon) all partnering Ai Sugiyama
A number of sportmanship awards, Belgian Sportswomen of the year as well as Player of the Year.
